The International Safety@Sea Week is an annual event organized by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore. The fifth run of this annual event took place from 18th to 22nd June 2018 at the Marina Mandarin Singapore Hotel.
Captain Malcolm Soares, VP Asia Pacific at Marine Press, was invited to be one of the presenters at a half-day workshop on navigational safety on 19th June 2018. "I was deeply touched and honored to be approached by council members from the Singapore Nautical Institute to represent them on this MPA cross-team workshop," said Malcolm. "This has been such an honor and a great opportunity to share my domain expertise to contribute towards the safety of navigation in the Singapore Straits."
Captain Soares' presentation, Best navigational practices and advantages of sound navigation basics in the Singapore Strait by SNI, engaged approximately 40 participants, including practicing Captains and seafarers, ship owners and operators, ship managers, DPAs, SHE-Q personnel, PSA pilots, technical and marine superintendents.
"It was such a great event, interacting with maritime industry stake-holders, ship owners/ship-manager's end users and decision makers, major oil company representatives, Singapore VTIS operators, TSIB, and MPA representatives, all coming together," said Malcolm after the event. "A big thank you to Singapore Nautical Institute for inviting me to represent them at this prestigious event and to contribute to safety of navigation."
