Marine Press of Canada Inc., a leading supplier of integrated navigation solutions for the marine industry, is pleased to announce its participation in Consortech's FME World Tour – Montreal at the Westin Hotel, Montreal, on May 2nd, 2018.
The availability of real time data has become indispensable for both the security of vessels as well as for their routes. As a provider and integrator of navigation solutions, Marine Press was challenged by the constant changes in technologies and data sources. The use of FME made it possible to standardize data from different websites, generate geometry from raw data, and implement a relational database model for easy retrieval of data. This in turn made it possible to improve the delivery of advance navigational warnings to help navigation officers create better plans for their vessel's routes.
Cesar Suarez, Manager of GIS and Data Services will tell Marine Press' story of using FME in his presentation called Websites integration for navigational warning system: from text to geometry and a relational model with FME.
"In this presentation I want to share Marine Press' experiences and knowledge with FME and the flexibility it provides for handling multiple data sources, processes and displaying data and their geometry in a timely and neatly-organized fashion," said Cesar. "Part of the mission of our GIS and Data Services team is to deliver cutting-edge products and data needed for day-to-day navigational purposes, as well as to participate in the research, implementation, maintenance and development of Geographical Information Systems and Science (GISc) here at Marine Press."
